MICROPLASTICS: THE ADDITIVE YOU NEVER CHOSE

Plastic was never meant to be food. But today, tiny plastic particles — called microplastics — are entering our bodies through what we eat and drink.

They don’t appear on ingredient labels. They arrive through packaging, processing and pollution.

Plastic has quietly become an invisible ingredient.

🍽 WHERE MICROPLASTICS HIDE

They have been found in:• Bottled water• Fish & seafood• Table salt & sea salt• Packaged foods• Bread & baked goods• Tea (plastic tea bags)• Produce wrapped in plastic• Baby bottles & formula• Infant and toddler foods

They are everywhere, but never listed.

🧬 WHY MICROPLASTICS ARE A PROBLEM

Microplastics don’t just pass through the body. They can:

⚠️ Carry toxic chemicals⚠️ Stick to oily and fatty foods⚠️ Build up in tissues⚠️ Disrupt hormone signalling⚠️ Stress the immune system⚠️ Increase inflammatory load

Plastic particles act like chemical sponges, bringing pollutants into the body with them.

This isn’t just environmental, It’s biological.

🧠 THE DEEPER ISSUE

Your body evolved to process: Water, Minerals, Fibre, Fat, Protein

It did not evolve to process plastic fragments.

When packaging becomes an ingredient, the body must detox something it never recognised as food.

This is not about panic. It’s about awareness.

🌿 WHAT YOU CAN DO (WITHOUT GOING CRAZY)

✔ Choose glass or stainless steel over plastic✔ Avoid heating food in plastic✔ Filter drinking water✔ Reduce packaged and ultra-processed foods✔ Use loose-leaf tea instead of plastic tea bags✔ Store leftovers in glass

Small choices matter.

GLOW PRINCIPLE

If your food touched plastic before your body did, your body still has to deal with it.

Microplastics are the additives you never chose —but your body still pays the price.
